I’m in the process of researching over 200 Cardwell men that served during the American Civil War. This will be an ongoing project, but it will hopefully shed some light on many missing family members. It has already solved a couple of cases of “disappearing” men during that era. Below is a table that has information on each documented Cardwell man that served in the War. As time allows, I will add more and more information for each one. Connections are often found by men that served within the same unit. Also, many units were formed in specific counties and can be associated with family groups that lived in the same geographcial area. These records are available from the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration. I’m a member of Footnote.com and they have the majority of records available for review on their website with more coming online on a regular basis. ~ Rand Cardwell 2008
